The Woodbridge school is pleased to play host to the following event:
A musical recital by concert pianists David Silkoff and Cathy Davies, presenting favourite pieces from the light classical and musical theatre repertoire. Think Debussy and Ravel, Bernstein and Gershwin.
Time and Date: Tuesday 9th October (7.30pm-9.30pm).
Venue: Roding Theatre, Woodbridge High School.

David took piano lessons with Lina Collins and won a Junior Exhibition to the Guildhall School of Music where he continued his studies with Ieuan Roberts. He later became a full time student at the Royal College of Music where he studied under Kendal Taylor and Cyril Smith winning the Martin Scholarship. David later studied at the Royal Academy for two years where he won the Lloyd Hartley prize.
In 1975 he gave a very successful Wigmore hall debut which was highly praised in the ‘Review of London Recitals’ mentioning his glowing technique and sensitive playing. He has also performed at the Purcell Room, Royal Festival Hall and has given recitals in Holland, Luxembourg and Vienna.
His repertoire ranges from Bach and Beethoven to Scriabin and Ligeti and in recent years he has performed the major concertos with many orchestras In 2015 he premiered a first performance of Schoenberg’s Verklarte Nacht for solo piano.
Cathy is a piano teacher and accompanist in much demand. She has held teaching posts at Bancrofts and Woodford Prep schools for the last 20 years and accompanies choirs, soloists and also enjoys playing in bands for shows. She is also the resident organist at St Augustine’s, Barkingside. Cathy has performed at many high profile venues in the UK and abroad. She is the accompanist on several CDs,the most recently released being CD of “The Road goes ever on” featuring Tolkien poems set to music.
Cathy and David have formed a very successful duet partnership over the past two years and have been extremely well received at concerts and community events.
